![]() See, relationships usually end, in the formal sense, when the people invested believe they're better suited outside of the relationship. Relationships exist as a medium for intense feelings, and when they come to an end - no matter how abruptly - it's only natural for some residual feelings to linger, even after the dust has settled, so to speak. While the fantasy may ease your restless mind for however long you allow it to, once you're hit with a reality check - it might take a while to get up. While it's perfectly natural to drift back to loved ones past in your mind from time to time, it's important to keep him or her there: in your past.ĭon't worry about what could've been or where you would've been now, had things gone a bit differently. ![]() Regardless of the circumstances that ultimately ended your relationship, it's important to come to terms with the fact that it is, in fact, ended. You don't know what the future could've brought.Īnother reason you might be caught up in the past, with respect to a relationship that didn't end properly, is you're still harboring hope for the future. We're naturally curious creatures.Īnd while curiosity is good, when it goes unattended to for too long, it's only a matter of time before it becomes an obsession. ![]() See, without concrete - honest - answers, our minds will wander. You're curious how the person you thought you knew could do what he or she did - you have questions.Ĭlosure isn't just some cliché tossed around relationships every time they go sour closure requires the answers to these questions. You're unsure of why things didn't work out the way you foresaw them. Part of the reason you're obsessing over your last unfinished relationship is you didn't receive the adequate amount of closure necessary to move on. When things go unfinished, it's especially hard to move on from them, probably because neither party knows where to start.Īnd here's why. These types of relationships tend to linger longer than others - and even become the topic of obsession for some well after the people involved decided to go their separate ways. Let's say your girlfriend had to up and move because of a new job opportunity - or you got too drunk at the bar and ended up making a horrible mistake (that you *actually* can't remember) - regardless of the specific cause, the relationship ended without a proper conclusion. I like to think of “unfinished” relationships as those that end because of circumstances that were not directly in your hands or weren't really premeditated, at any rate. That said, there is always that one relationship you can't shake and is almost impossible to take anything away from: The relationship that went “unfinished.” You'll take the aspects of those relationships you treasured and look for them in your next one, and as for those you didn't like, you'll now know what to avoid. Some you might've pumped the breaks on yourself others, you might've watched yourself get hurt in.Įither way, the end of relationships will likely be a theme during your younger years - and that's fine, really - it's the best way to figure out what you want from another person. Throughout your youth, you're bound to watch many relationships come to a screeching halt. ![]() The curriculum included in medical transcription course would depend heavily on course work such as anatomy, medical terminology, legal aspects of medical transcription as well as punctuation, English grammar and spelling. Most photographers have simply turned to Photoshop by default since it has been the industry standard program for editing photos for decades. ![]() Things to consider when shopping for photo editing software If you’re serious about being a professional photographer, you need to edit your photos. In fact, technically, they are letting their camera do the editing for them by accepting its default RAW to JPG conversion. They will rely only on the image they get from their camera. Occasionally a photographer will say that editing is “cheating” and will refuse to do it. The amount of editing a photographer does to an image may vary, but the reason is always the same - to make the photo the best it can be. Editing could be as simple as correcting and enhancing color, cropping, and removing blemishes to completely replacing a sky or swapping someone’s head in a group shot because they were the one person who didn’t smile. The amount of editing they do will vary greatly from one person to the next, depending on their style, genre, preference, skill level, and client’s needs. Yes, nearly ALL pro photographers edit, or post-process, their images. In this age of Snapchat filters and chronic smartphone overedited selfies, it’s easy to understand why a lot of people confuse that sort of editing with the post-processing that professional photographers do. When the light emitted directly from a source is examined with a spectrometer, the emission spectrum is obtained. The spectra obtained from different bodies can be classified into two types (i) emission spectra and (ii) absorption spectra. If I don’t get an answer that satisfies I’ll keep asking – or find someone else to get an answer from.’ She laughs that her partner, Raymond Walsh, who is also an actor, finds this character trait in her somewhat tiring: ‘He regularly tells me that I don’t have to debate every little thing – like the ethics or philosophy of a TV show.’ Much like Eliza, Okereke has a head for debating: ‘I’ve always been raised to ask questions about things that don’t make sense. ![]() But it’s a musical that was set in 1913 in 2022, you start to question it.’ ‘As you get older, you see the misogyny of that time, the reality of how those characters behave. īut times change and the plot for My Fair Lady – in which the grand happy ending is the young Eliza Doolittle being shaped to Henry Higgins’s ideals – doesn’t fit with most people’s notions of a modern romance. So much so that they would say, “People will see you more as this than that”, which is tough because I only see myself as. ‘Even at drama, it was a thing of pushing the reality of the industry on to you. ‘Being black and being in theatre, doing the type of theatre I do, I have very complicated relationships with the work I do.’ That was made clear from the start when she was accepted onto a BA Musical Theatre degree course at the prestigious Arts Educational School in Chiswick, west London. ‘Being nominated was probably the highlight of my career,’ says Okereke. Ebere even sought out black voices in the theatre world for her daughter to look up to, steering her to videos of the Broadway doyenne Audra McDonald – ‘legend, queen, everything!’ – and, years later, when Okereke couldn’t be present to collect her award for Recent Graduate at the Black British Theatre Awards (she was also nominated as Best Supporting Female in a Musical for her role as Cosette), it was Ebere who went in her place. I don’t know anyone who is rooting for me more,’ she beams. ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, her mother, Ebere, has always been a fan – ‘A fan of theatre and a fan of my work. Her father came round in the end, especially when the awards started rolling in, including the Stage Debut Award for Best Actress in Les Mis. I don’t know, but I am willing to take that risk.”’ Okereke laughs. ‘My dad said, “What? You’re going to have a job doing this?! How do you know you’re going to have financial security?” And I had to sit down with him and say, “Well, that’s part of it. But after joining the National Youth Music Theatre at 15 and taking part in the semi-professional production of 13: The Musical, directed by the composer Jason Robert Brown, she’d felt such ‘joy’ on stage that she decided to abandon her plan of university and go to drama school instead. For a while, everything was in order: she was clever, a grammar school kid with good GCSE grades, who had selected maths and science at A level. Proving to people that I deserve to be here.’Īctually, the six-year-old Okereke thought she’d be a doctor like her parents. My whole life I’ve been fighting for my space in the industry. It had to make people rethink everything. Yet, a self-avowed perfectionist, she kept thinking: what next? ‘I felt like the next thing I did had to be better – or life-changing. Lead roles followed in Oklahoma! and The Boy Friend, as well as Spring Awakening at the Almeida. The reviews – ‘she is outstanding… full of energy and joy’ – the praise, the garlands, all said enough. ![]() I didn’t want to just be known as “the black Cosette”.’ So Okereke turned off her social media. ‘I knew people were going to have those views, but to be bombarded with them was overwhelming. She was the first black Cosette – a seminal moment for British theatre – and was lauded by many, but criticised by a racist minority online who considered it ‘not the way it’s meant to be’. In the theatre world, Okereke was already making her way: fresh out of drama school, she’d had award-winning roles on the stage – most notably playing Cosette in Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre in London. Nearly 20 years later, that feeling came back. It was a feeling in the pit of my stomach.’ It became an obsession.’ Her real obsession, though, was with Julie Andrews: ‘She just had such a phenomenal voice and was a beautiful presence.’Īnd if online was where it all began, then Okereke’s first visit to the Grand in Leeds, to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, only entrenched her love of theatre: ‘I barely remember the play, but I do remember walking into the old-fashioned music hall and feeling like I was in a movie or something. I went through a phase of watching that film every single day. ‘Because I was growing up when the internet was becoming a proper thing, you could watch anything,’ she says. As a child, she would study videos of Judy Garland, Debbie Reynolds and Liza Minnelli on YouTube. ![]() All this, as Martin observed, for "a mere 30 US dollars - less than 20 quid!" ![]() D‑Sound Pro offered comprehensive sample editing functions, a variety of built-in effects, SCSI and MIDI dump support for numerous external samplers - and even a synth oscillator for generating new sounds. I'm sure crashes will become less common once 64-bit support is added in the next major update. This popular shareware sample editor has grown into a serious audio manipulation tool.īack in 1997, while idly flicking through the June issue of SOS, I came across a brief but very favourable review of a shareware audio editor called D‑Sound Pro in what was then Martin Russ's Apple Notes column. I'm just so thankful that we finally have a pro-level Mac-oriented mastering program that fully supports Cocoa-based plug-ins. I do this sort of thing for a living myself and appreciate how hard it is. I can't really complain about the crashes, because Stefano is a hard-working and supportive vendor who is transparent and open about everything and doesn't get defensive when issues are presented. I don't think even Peak had that capability? It's really great that each plug-in slot has its own balance knob and L/R gain control to avoid "overs" during stacked plug-in processing. I may not care though, as I only use three plug-ins at the mastering stage. There's supposed to be a way to save a global plug-in chain as well, but so far I'm not seeing it. I always save my settings as presets so they are easily recovered if I need to move the slot, or if there's a crash - even though each song will likely get its own settings. I haven't yet found a way to "drag" plug-ins from one slot to another, as in DP, so that kills a tiny bit of time. It's my first-in-chain, so I'll need to apply VTM elsewhere and re-save my pre-masters. VTM won't load at all I have tried many times and it ALWAYS crashes. I am getting occasional crashes, which seem mostly related to Slate Digital plug-ins. I really like the tape-rewind and other unique features that I've never seen on other mastering apps, as it's a time-saver. So far, I am LOVING DSP-Quattro as my audio mastering app. This is a quick update as I can't afford the CPU and memory hit of having the browser open while working. I won't bother boning up on mastering in Logic or trying to get past my annoyances with Studio One's Project Mode now.ĭoes anyone know off-hand of a plug-in that is exclusively workable in 64-bit mode, to use as a final test of DSP-Quattro's viability as a full replacement for BIAS Peak Pro etc. This is a great update so far, and it looks like I'll be able to make DSP-Quattro my main mastering app for both audio and CD mastering at this point. I love iZotope RX4 Advanced, but it's one plug-in at a time with that app, which isn't good for recall as well as making gain staging cumbersome during the mastering phase. Is this because Cocoa is now supported, or is it more complicated than that?Īnyway, I don't care so much if the app itself is still 32-bits if it can host all of my mastering plug-ins, which so cars looks to be the case and was NOT true up until this update (just as with BIAS Peak). I also loaded ones that I think are ONLY available as 64-bit plug-ins, and they too loaded fine. I loaded plug-ins that I know to still be 32-bit only, and other than the ones from Eiosis, all loaded fine. Tonight, I began loading a gazillion plug-ins, and the only ones that are rejected are the old Eiosis ones due to an apparent incompatibility with the license key (not surprising as Fabrice Gabriel hasn't updated them in years, other than for Air Premium, which loads fine). I learned about it yesterday from a random post at GS as I recall, installed it, launched it to make sure it was authorized, and then went to bed. |
